    Job Summary | The John and Marcia Price College of Engineering at the University of Utah seeks a motivated and enthusiastic person that can be part of the team for Outreach and Recruiting. As a team member you will help develop and coordinate programs related to High School Recruiting and Outreach. This is primarily related to recruiting new students and creating partnerships and collaboration between the John and Marcia Price College Engineering and High School counselors and teachers. This position is primarily involved at the High School. We are seeking a candidate who embraces dynamic, non-desk-based roles.

    Responsibilities
    Essential Functions for High School Recruiting and Outreach: Develops and implements programs for recruitment of undergraduate students. Specifically,
    1. Support recruiting events for prospective students focusing on Discover Engineering traveling exhibit.
    2. Make connections with high school teachers to further the mission of the College of Engineering, coordinate with high schools to increase participation in Discover Engineering.
    3. Some overnight travel in support of John and Marcia Price College of Engineering outreach activities including the Discover Engineering exhibit. (up to 6 nights a year)
    4. Work with Outreach Team to create opportunities for faculty and current engineering students to present to high school math and science classes.
    5. Plan and execute John and Marcia Price College of Engineering Summer Camps
    6. Other duties as assigned.

    The main responsibility will be focused on scheduling and working Discover Engineering, which entails working with High Schools to get the exhibit booked in a different school every week during the school year. You will be Out of the Office in a High School two days a week promoting Engineering majors to prospective students.

    Minimum Qualifications
    Bachelor’s degree in a related field plus one year directly related experience or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience). Demonstrated ability to work independently, analyze and make decisions related to program content. Strong coordination and organizational skills required to prioritize conflicting deadlines. Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills are also required.

    Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.
    Preferences
    Applicants must have experience working with students and be committed to helping in their success. Prior experience working in University Admissions/Recruiting and/or experience working in High School education of students. Math, Science or Engineering background helpful but not required.
    Ability to lift 50lbs.
    Current Utah Drivers License required.
