  • The Bainbridge College Library is located in the Academic Building. It serves the entire college, providing access to knowledge for both students and community citizens.

The book collection has more than doubled since opening day, reaching a size of over 38,000 volumes. The book collection is composed of materials that are carefully chosen to support the students' academic requirements as well as to provide more in-depth reading for those who are interested. Currently, the collection provides access to some 600 periodical titles in both hard copy and microfilm. Back issues extend, in some cases, into the early years of the twentieth century. Of additional interest are newspaper collections on microfilm including the entire run of newspapers published in Bainbridge, and selected back issues of the New York Times.

The library's catalog is available online through Georgia Interconnected Libraries (GIL). GIL allows patrons to search library holdings from Bainbridge College and other libraries in the state university system and access patron information such as checkouts, fines, and holds.

Non-print media such as videotapes, compact discs, filmstrips, and slide/tape programs are also available.

Facilities and equipment available to patrons include cassette duplication service for non-copyrighted tapes, a photocopier, projectors, cassette players, and two soundproof study rooms for group study.

The Library is staffed by professional librarians during all operational hours. When classes are in session, the Library is open from 8 a.m. until 9 p.m. each Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Fridays, and 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturdays. Between semesters the Library is open from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Summer hours may vary and are posted in the Library. A classroom-centered library orientation program is part of general student instruction, and personal service is readily available in all areas of the Library.

If you think the library could be better, tell us how! Fill out our survey and be a part of the change.
    Special Collections

Approximately 75,000 manuscripts make up the archives section of the Library. Former Georgia Governor S. Marvin Griffin's papers are a valuable addition to this collection. The papers of Colonel John E. Donalson, founder of Donalsonville and Faceville and a former mayor of Bainbridge, and those of former U.S. Representative Maston E. O'Neal, Jr. are also included in the archives collection.
